In a year where it seems like everyone is relying on emails asking for help, I'm really grateful to have my friend Senator Smith’s support both as we work together in the Senate and as we both seek re-election this November. I know how many campaigns are asking for your investment, so I only wanted to email you when it was really important.

I’m sure you'll hear a lot more about my race and my opponent — former football coach Tommy Tuberville — but there is a really clear contrast in this race that has a lot of parallels with what's going on in our country right now.

My race is about unity versus division. I have a record of finding common ground, working across party lines, and getting things done. My opponent is an inexperienced hyper-partisan who will just add to the divide in Washington.

Democrats need to win in places like Alabama and Minnesota in order to take back the Senate. With Republicans working hard to dismantle the Affordable Care Act, we know there is so much on the line.

And Mitch McConnell and his allies are going to do everything they can to win this seat. They’ve spent millions on television ads attacking me. Despite the attacks, our team knows Alabamians deserve real representation in the Senate, and I won’t stop fighting.

So, yes, I'm writing to ask you for a contribution. In the face of all the attack ads and millions flying around it may not seem like much, but your support really can make a big difference.
