Friend,

I know how tough it is breaking down barriers. Marching with Dr. King throughout the South in the 1960s, we encountered bitter opposition in our struggle for equality. But we prevailed, and passed the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act.

Today the right to vote is under attack, but Georgia has the opportunity to break down another barrier as we fight to preserve the hard-fought gains we have won through generations of struggle.

Carolyn and I are proud to endorse Teresa Tomlinson as the next U.S. Senator from Georgia not only because she would be the first woman elected to the Senate in Georgia’s long history. We firmly believe Teresa is the change we need to see in Washington, DC.

Teresa is a fighter for criminal justice reform, beginning with the decriminalization, legalization, and regulation of marijuana that includes expungement and commutation for those unjustly charged with crimes.

Her plan doesn’t stop there – Teresa understands that we also need to make capital available and prioritize investing in communities that have been most impacted by the War on Drugs.

Teresa rejects corporate PAC money because she holds herself accountable to you, not giant corporations, and depends on your support, not theirs.

She is on a mission to restore the Voting Rights Act and protect the integrity of our elections from interference.

She sees the urgency of raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour and getting universal healthcare by improving the Affordable Care Act, not sabotaging and stonewalling as Mitch McConnell’s Senate has done.

Teresa has been a lifelong fighter for the LGBTQ community and will extend long-overdue citizenship to our nation’s Dreamers.

I could go on, but suffice it to say that the urgency of this election could not be any higher – especially here in Georgia. We have not one but TWO U.S. Senate seats up for grabs, and defeating David Perdue will determine who controls the Senate after 2020.

That’s why Carolyn and I are asking all Georgians and Democrats across the country to extend your full support to Teresa in this moment. Please make a donation to her campaign right now so we can bring the change we need to Washington.
