Good morning!

I’m sure it just slipped their mind, but the establishment media failed to report on nearly 300 illegal aliens being detained in South Texas last week...

First up in today’s Texas Minute: a leftwing Californian wants Texans to send her to Congress.

Until a year ago, leftwing labor lawyer Lulu Seikaly was working for a law firm in Sacramento and as a professor at the University of California-Davis, yet used an address linked to her parents to vote in Texas in 2016 and 2018. Now, Ms. Seikaly wants Collin County voters to send her to Congress. Erin Anderson has the details [[link removed]].

The Democrat is challenging Republican incumbent Van Taylor for the 3rd Congressional District – which has long been seen as a solidly Republican seat. Mr. Taylor took the open seat in 2018, with 54 percent of the vote. He had previously served in both the Texas House and Senate.

With perfect “100” ratings on various conservative groups’ rankings, Taylor was known as “the most conservative member of the Texas Senate.” This year, he is touting his membership in the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus [[link removed]]. He has continued to champion pro-taxpayer measures and veterans’ issues.

Seikaly is endorsed by several labor unions and pro-abortion groups. She has raised $1.1 million [[link removed]], much of it funneled through ActBlue PAC, a fundraiser for Democrats. Brandon Waltens reports [[link removed]] 294 individuals were discovered being smuggled into the United States in four separate incidents during an 18-hour timespan last week. Ninety of those individuals were from countries other than Mexico.

According to Laredo Sector Chief Matthew J. Hudak of the Border Patrol, the individuals were paying smugglers a fee of about $5,000 per person to be placed in dangerous conditions to cross into the United States.

“No one in Texas should vote Democrat. It is the party of open borders, decriminalizing illegal border crossing, sanctuary cities for illegals, abolishing ICE, which allows criminal illegal immigrants, along w/human & sex trafficking, to operate freely.” – Allen West [[link removed]], chairman of the Republican Party of Texas A Trump supporter was allegedly assaulted by a Dallas County election judge on Sunday, reports Robert Montoya [[link removed]]. (The victim’s full name is not being used in the article to protect her privacy and safety.)

On Sunday, an Egyptian immigrant drove past the South Garland Branch Library voting location in Dallas County yet did not notice any signs supporting President Donald Trump. She went home, got her own Trump flag, and returned to join others who were promoting Republican candidates.

That was when the election judge allegedly assaulted the woman in front of witnesses, yelling that a Republican Texas House campaign had been cheating during early voting.

A report was filed with the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office. The Dallas County Elections office did not respond to an inquiry from Texas Scorecard on the incident, but the Republican Party of Texas is monitoring the situation. Two Central Texas Republicans are vying to take back critical seats in the Texas House from Democrat incumbents. Jacob Asmussen reports [[link removed]] on the campaigns of Carrie Isaac and Justin Berry.

Mrs. Isaac hopes to unseat one-term lawmaker Erin Zwiener in House District 45. The incumbent is rated as one of the most liberal Democrats in the Texas House.

Mr. Berry, a 12-year officer with the Austin Police Department, is challenging HD 47’s Vikki Goodwin. “My opponent’s failed policies of high taxes and poor public safety are the last things we need right now,” Berry recently wrote on social media. We Asked, You Answered...

In yesterday’s One Click Survey we asked whether Republican Party officials should endorse a Democrat. We thought the results would be a bit tighter... As it turns out, 98 percent of Texas Minute readers “absolutely” disagree with Republican Party officials endorsing Democrats.

Here are some of the comments from email and Facebook...

“If a Republican Party official doesn’t like a candidate that’s their prerogative just like any citizen and he or she is entitled to vote for whoever they please, but because of the weight of his or her position with the party and the possible damage caused, the Party Official should keep their dang mouth shut and absolutely NOT endorse the opposition party!” – John A. of Richardson

“Not a close question. If you choose to take on an official role with the Republican party, you simply may not publicly oppose Republican candidates. If you wish to publicly support any Democrat candidate, you must resign from your role with the Republican party. Republicans and more broadly Americans are in a war for the future of freedom and Texas and America.” – Debbie G. of Dallas

“An ‘official’ executive member of the GOP endorses a Democrat that is an official slap in the face to the GOP. That person should immediately be removed!” – Ellie M. of Graham

“If a member of the executive committee can’t support a fellow Republican they should resign or be removed ASAP!” – Steve S. of Denton

“No; if they can’t endorse a republican candidate with a clear conscience, then they should just withhold their endorsement altogether; NOT endorse a Democrat. No true Republican in their right mind could do such a thing; it would indicate that they don’t value the advancement of the GOP platform!” – Joy C. of Rockwall

“Why shouldn't we expect Republicans endorsing Democrats? It started at the top with the Governor endorsing Democrat policies in the last Legislature, and still refusing to call a Special Session.” – Greg R. of Lubbock Quote-Unquote

“The political world relies on coercion. Most of the nation prefers cooperation.”

– Scott Rasmussen
