Hi friend,
Tonight, ten Democratic candidates for President will take the stage for the latest primary debate. So far, moderators and candidates alike have failed to engage in a substantial conversation about their vision for reproductive freedom, and many have avoided even saying the word "abortion." In an op-ed out today for Refinery 29: [link removed], I call on all the candidates to run, and win, by boldly and proudly showing their support for abortion access.
As I wrote in Refinery 29, support for abortion access among the general public has never been higher -- even in states that recently passed abortion bans, there continues to be widespread opposition to outlawing abortion. And in the first six months of 2019 alone, 27 states and the District of Columbia have pushed forward more than 100 bills to advance reproductive health, rights, and justice.
John, one of the people on that stage tonight will become the challenger to Donald Trump. That person has an opportunity and an obligation to speak to the needs and values of the majority in this country. I'll be watching tonight, hoping they seize the moment. I invite you to join me in this call to action by tweeting at the network host, ABC, and sharing this op-ed: [link removed]
In solidarity,
Andrea Miller
