John, This will not become a circus. My colleagues on the Left are threatening to boycott tomorrow's Senate Judiciary Committee vote, and here's what I have to say about it: Judge Barrett deserves a vote, and she will receive a vote. If Democratic senators don't want to attend the hearing, that's their choice. But I believe they are doing a disservice to Judge Amy Coney Barrett. She deserves a vote – up or down. I stand firmly behind what I've been saying since President Trump nominated Judge Barrett last month. She is one of the most prepared people to have ever been nominated for the Supreme Court. America will be fortunate to have her as a member of the highest court in the land. We all know how judicial nominations have gone in the past. The nomination process took a dark turn seven years ago when the Democrats changed the rules of the Senate for District and Circuit court nominees to only require a simple majority vote.
