John, we’re now
less than two weeks away from Election Day. You can really feel the
excitement—and nervousness—in the air right now when it comes to the
Presidential race. I’m right there with you.

But there’s one thing I’ve been hearing a lot lately that gives me pause.

“I can’t wait until Election Day so this can all be over with.”

Yes, we must boot Trump out of office. But please make no
mistake, John, the work will not
be “over with” on November 4. In fact, when this election ends, there is
still a lot of work to be done.

We need to repair our democracy and clean up the corruption in our
government after what the Trump Administration has done in the past four
years. We need to listen to scientists and safely solve the coronavirus
outbreak—because we still have no plan to get our country out of this. We
need to get our economy back on track for the long-term recovery. We need
to make quality healthcare available to everyone in our country. We need
to fix the childcare crisis that working families struggled with well
before the pandemic. We need to take immediate action to save our planet.
We need to loosen the grip that billionaire corporations have over
lawmakers and make our government work for working families.

If that sounds like a lot, it’s because it is. But let me be clear, our
government has accomplished quite a lot in the past four years, just not
so much for working people.

For far too long billionaire companies, big banks, wealthy CEOs, special
interest groups, lobbyists, and corrupt politicians have used money and
influence to bend the rules and call the shots in their favor.

I’m done with accepting this as “politics as usual.” But in order to make
real changes, we need to vote in leaders who are brave enough to take
risks and fight for what’s right. That all starts on Election Day this
year.

And this change doesn’t only happen from the White House,
John. It happens from the halls of Congress,
court houses, mayors’ offices, school board meetings, and even through
conversations at your kitchen table.

So please, John, let’s keep
doing everything we can between now and November 3 to make sure Democrats
win the White House, take back the Senate, expand our House majority, and
win downballot races everywhere. Then, let’s catch our breath, square our
shoulders, and prepare for the work ahead.

[ [link removed] ]I’m ready to continue fighting for working families, and I couldn’t do
this without you. We’re building a movement that is going to last long
past November 3 and make real change for the American people. If you’re
with me, can you please chip in $3 to help me win
re-election in November?
