“Cuts to military projects to pay for President Trump’s border wall will affect Fort Meade, Joint Base Andrews.”

Friend,
As a member of the House Appropriations Committee, I know a thing or two about government funding. I can confidently say that President Trump is undermining protocol, our Constitution, and the separation of powers.
The Trump Administration announced it will steal $3.6 billion that was appropriated for important national defense projects -- including ones at Fort Meade and Joint Base Andrews here in Maryland -- to build the president’s ludicrous border wall.
It’s unacceptable. Please -- stand with me and tell Trump to immediately reverse this reckless decision.
First: Congress already rejected Trump’s border wall, and Congress alone has the power of the purse. But after both Mexico and Congress refused to pay for the president’s vanity project, Trump is now trying to go around us.
Second: Fort Meade, Joint Base Andrews, and the other previously funded military construction projects are far more vital than the border wall. The Administration’s decision strips away money from a child development center at Andrews and road improvements at Fort Meade. These projects improve the lives of our troops and their families and help keep our country safe.
The Trump Administration’s decision is a waste of taxpayer dollars and an assault on our democracy.
