Dear Transparency Advocate,

Following the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, donors gave over $6 million to Democratic candidates through the donation-processing site ActBlue — more money raised in a single hour than ever before in the history of the site. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell vowed to fill Ginsburg’s seat early next week.

Supreme Court nominations have become highly polarized events with political ad spending akin to regular election campaigns, geared to build or break support for a nominee. Once again, CRP is bringing you the latest coverage on the groups attempting to shape the narrative and shift public opinion.

The urgency to complete the confirmation process for federal judge Amy Coney Barrett before the election has a range of party affiliated groups spending tens of millions. The conservative Judicial Crisis Network, a 501(c)(4) nonprofit that doesn’t reveal its donors has pledged to “match” and “surpass” the

Reporting on the competing agendas of various groups and powerful networks vying for influence in the Supreme Court nomination process is vital to the public interest. With your help, CRP is tracking and investigating the major players in this unprecedented judicial process to keep it transparent, and to hold the senators tasked with voting on the next Justice accountable.

Thank you for your support — which enhances our ability to inform voters by delivering accessible, high-quality data, analysis and reporting and safeguard our democratic systems. Look for essential updates on OpenSecrets.org as we gear up for this historic showdown.
With gratitude,
