Hi there —
We never thought we’d have to come out and say that the unanimous Supreme Court ruling that ended school segregation 65 years ago was absolutely correctly decided and shouldn’t be subject to reconsideration… but here we are.
Trump has nominated more than 30 potential federal judges who have refused to state that Brown v. Board was correctly decided. Nine Supreme Court justices unanimously agreed to overturn the policy of “separate but equal” in 1954, but somehow today, in 2019, Trump is nominating potential federal judges who refuse to answer what should be an incredibly simple question.
If that doesn’t shock you, this certainly will: many Democratic Senators have repeatedly voted to confirm Trump’s Brown deniers to the court, giving them a lifetime seat on the federal bench and the power to influence our civil rights for generations to come. We’ve all come to expect the worst from Trump, but it’s reasonable to hold Democratic Senators, who claim to support civil rights, to a higher standard.
Right now, there are eight MORE judges waiting for confirmation who also haven’t said they agree with this cornerstone of our civil rights law. It’s time for all of us to speak up and demand that Senators protect civil rights by voting against Trump’s extreme nominees.
The Senate works for us — let’s welcome them back to Washington and make sure that
Brown v. Board and our civil rights are protected.
In solidarity,
Demand Justice
Donald Trump is openly taking over our courts, and if we let him succeed, his nominees will keep his hateful vision alive on the federal bench for decades. Join Demand Justice and take a stand to protect our nation's courts.
