Most Americans rely on Social Security for their retirement income
and protecting Social Security is a priority for us no matter which party you belong to.
On Tuesday, I stood with seniors to support a bill to improve
and stabilize Social Security. The Social Security 2100 Act increases benefits
for all current and future Social Security recipients, cuts taxes for 12 million recipients and importantly, ensures that Social Security remains solvent for the next generation.
Chip in here if you support protecting Social Security and helping our seniors
This bill, which was introduced in January, has been
co-sponsored by more than 200 members of the House.
But so far my opponent, Rep. Josh Gottheimer, has withheld his support.
He had previously promised he would work tirelessly to help seniors
in the district, many of whom struggle to keep up with the district's high cost of living.
So now, right this second, we have a bill on the table
that's designed to address exactly those campaign promises that he made.
Why isn't Rep Gottheimer supporting it?
I have my own theory:
He’s not supporting the bill because the wealthiest 0.4% (!) will have to start
to pay their fair share if this bill passes. He is siding with his affluent donors
over the seniors of our district.
The wealthiest will have to pay their fair share if this bill passes.
Again, who is Josh working for?
I’m not sure, but as I’ve been saying,
it matters what problems you solve and who you solve them for.
Chip in here and I’ll help make sure all of NJ5 is represented,
not just the wealthiest contributors.
