Team Estes,
My grandpa was a dryland wheat and milo farmer in western Kansas. He wore a light tan cowboy hat to church on Sundays where he served as an elder, accompanied by boots and a belt buckle. He was an International farm equipment loyalist. His barn was the backdrop for 4th of July fireworks, hayrack rides and bike-riding lessons. He served his country in the United States Army, and the American flag from his funeral sits behind me in my office.
My grandpa was the epitome of Kansas.
Our state is comprised of many men and women who share a love of the land and this country. They show us that farming isn't just a vocation, but a way of life. And they get up before the sun to feed the world and finish their day well into the night – just like my grandpa did.
Agriculture and ag producers are critical to Kansas, and it's why we need representatives in Washington to champion this industry and its workers. Thankfully, we have Ron Estes fighting for Kansas farmers and ranchers.
Ron grew up on his family's century farm in rural Kansas where his mom still lives today. He was raised with the same values, grit and determination that have shaped young Kansans across the prairie for decades – the same values that you and I share.
