John, I get asked a lot about what the polls are saying in this race. The truth is, we don’t know much. There haven’t been any official polls published, and the only one we’ve seen in the news is an internal poll Republicans conducted that shows my opponent down by only 2%. Now, I can’t tell you how accurate that number is, but I can tell you that I intend to campaign like it is. This race could very well come down to the wire, and I refuse to take anything for granted. My opponent is your typical Trump Republican, and he’s not shy about it. He’s spent much of the last month attacking me for supporting peaceful protests, and he’s been vocal about how “great” a job the White House has done tackling COVID-19. To put it mildly, he has no business representing the people of IL-03 in Congress. But let’s be honest: 2020 has been a really strange year, and it just makes sense to plan for the worst-case scenario. If my opponent is down just 2%, taking our foot off the gas in the home stretch could be all he needs to get a leg up. Thanks, Marie
