Tomorrow is the final presidential debate before Election Day.

If you watched the first debate, you know that it was a disgraceful, incoherent mess full of interruptions and distractions. While the climate crisis and fossil fuels were mentioned, it was impossible to get any real answers in the midst of the chaos.

Luckily, there are new rules on the table tomorrow and a mute button — and climate change is on the agenda.

This is our chance to finally get the clear answers that we deserve. We need to know how each candidate will address the billions of dollars in damages caused by climate disasters like fires, floods, droughts, and super storms every year.

Will you sign our petition to the debate moderator, Kristen Welker of NBC News, demanding that each candidate answer to their climate record on the debate stage?

Despite the chaos of the first debate, there was one thing that left us hopeful. This was the first time in 12 years that there was a question about climate.

To see climate as a key topic in the first debate and tomorrow’s debate speaks volumes to our progress as a movement. Thousands of you demanded climate be discussed, and it worked.

It’s this work – together with years of organizing locally, mobilizing by the millions in the streets, and using our voices at the ballot box – that has made climate action a top issue for the American people. We know it, and the debate moderators know it too. But softball questions on climate change won’t do.

We expect Kristen Welker to demand concrete answers to questions about the candidate’s climate plans. She cannot let Trump lie about the Green New Deal, and Trump must address the billions of dollars in damages and lives that are on the line from climate disasters.

We know that our pressure works. If enough of us speak out, we can put Trump on the stand for wreaking havoc on our planet. Will you add your name now?

We don’t have much time, so please act now.
