Friend, democracy is on the ballot in 2020 -- and your voice can make all the difference.
I want to share with you the results of Our Democracy 2020 -- Common Cause’s campaign to make sure candidates for office are willing to fight for a government that works for all of us.
This year’s elections will be extremely consequential for our future -- so we sought to get every candidate on the record to tell voters how they’ll defend and strengthen our democracy.
We sent a survey to every candidate running for Congress, asking them: if elected, what will you do for our democracy?
Over 200 candidates have responded. And in this final stretch, we want to get as many more as possible on the record -- so those voters who haven’t yet cast their ballot know where candidates stand.
Plus, after the election -- with your help -- we’ll hold candidates to the promises they made and make sure they pass solutions to improve our democracy.
Here’s how you can help:
1. Visit https://ourdemocracy2020.org and enter your address to get started.
2. Check out the candidates running to represent YOU and see if they’ve completed the survey.
3. If they haven’t -- mail, call, and tweet at them to demand they go on the record with just one click!
This will be a turbulent and significant election year, with hundreds of first-time candidates running for office and huge amounts of money being spent on campaigns.
And candidates need to know that voters like you and me want answers -- and that we expect them to tell us how they’ll fight for us.
Friend, voters deserve to know where their candidates stand on improving and transforming our democracy for the next generation. Visit ourdemocracy2020org to get started >>
Thanks for all you do,
