Friend,

We know that passing Proposition D is vital to dismantling the structural racism embedded in our criminal justice system. We see that same racism affecting our Black and brown kids in our schools––we know they haven’t received the resources or the opportunities that they deserve.

That’s why I’m asking you to vote Yes on both Propositions D and J on your ballot. Prop. J helps ensure that Black and brown students across San Francisco public schools have the same access to high quality teachers and educational programs as their peers.

Learn more about Prop. J

As former president of the San Francisco Board of Education, I know how much work we still have to do to close the achievement gap for Black and Latino students, and COVID-19 has only worsened the divide.

I hope you’ll join me in using your vote and your voice to reverse intergenerational inequality this fall––by making sure you, your family, and your friends vote Yes on Propositions D and J.

Will you forward this email to your friends and family?

Yours,

Shamann Walton
