It’s clear that having Amy Coney Barrett on the Supreme Court would be a disaster.
The Senate hearings we’ve seen have shown us exactly what kind of Supreme Court Justice she would be.
Amy Coney Barrett poses a serious threat to our democracy. She refuses to recuse herself in the event of an election case that can determine the presidential race, a serious conflict of interest that we cannot afford to have in the highest court in this country.
In addition to this, her time on the Supreme Court could wipe away so much of the progress we’ve made to move this country forward.
She has a record of criticizing our country’s Medicare program. And at last week's hearings, she wouldn't even agree that it is constitutional.
She refuses to state her position on the right to an abortion and made a point of claiming that Roe v. Wade is not “super-precedent,” meaning that it is not so settled that it couldn’t be overturned.
And, among so many other things, instead of acknowledging the existence of climate change, she rejected Senator Kamala Harris’ question on climate change because it “is a matter of public policy,” and because it’s “politically controversial.”
Amy Coney Barrett’s nomination to the Supreme Court could have serious adverse effects on the health of the American people. And with her refusal to acknowledge climate change as a scientific fact, the health of the entire world is at stake, too.
TAKE ACTION: We can’t let Amy Coney Barrett fill this seat. There are just two days left until this petition ends, and The Senate Judiciary Committee voting process begins TOMORROW.
