John,

Thirteen domestic terrorists were charged for the attempted kidnapping of Michigan Democratic Governor Gretchen Whitmer after Donald Trump called on his supporters to “LIBERATE MICHIGAN.”

Donald Trump has continuously attacked Gov. Whitmer over her coronavirus public health measures. Earlier this year, he threatened to cut federal funding for the state after Michigan sent absentee ballots to registered voters in response to the pandemic. When armed protesters carrying Trump flags swarmed Michigan’s Capitol to demand Gov. Whitmer end her coronavirus restrictions, Trump said the governor should “give a little” to appease these “very good people.”

As a fierce and considerate leader, Gov. Whitmer has stood by science throughout the pandemic to keep American families safe: instituting a state-wide lockdown to reduce the spread of the deadly coronavirus, limiting indoor and outdoor gathering capacities, and requiring public health measures like social distancing and wearing masks.

But just last week, the Republican majority in the Michigan Supreme Court blocked Gov. Whitmer’s request to maintain her executive order on the coronavirus pandemic. Then, rather than condemn the far-right militia groups that plotted Gov. Whitmer’s kidnapping, Donald Trump attacked Gov. Whitmer, saying she is doing a “terrible job” leading Michigan. As Trump works to rewrite the narrative, we’re standing in support of Gov. Whitmer’s leadership and condemning domestic terrorism. We need to know -- will you stand with us?

Do you support Governor Gretchen Whitmer?
