I expect the worst from the Trump Administration, but this is beyond the pale:

Trump’s Secretary of Commerce threatened to fire National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration officials who wouldn’t lie about the impacts of a natural disaster -- Just to save the President’s ego.

Trump’s false claim that Hurricane Dorian would hit Alabama was more than just a misstep -- It was dangerous.

Hurricane warnings can lead to panic as people rush to buy supplies and escape danger. And people in the path of natural disasters need to know that they can depend on government agencies for accurate, life-saving information.

But despite weather forecasters’ assurances that the hurricane would not impact Alabama, President Trump insisted that he was correct -- even going so far as to edit a map of the hurricane’s projected path with a marker.

Trump’s childlike behavior is absurd, but it’s not out of character. It follows a pattern of attacking science and ignoring facts that we’ve seen since Trump took office:
