Dear Friend,
The Toledo Blade reported Monday that Karl Rove is playing politics in Ohio again. He is pleading with donors to help keep the Republican Majority in the Ohio Supreme Court. He knows that One Party Republican Rule in Ohio guarantees gerrymandered districts where instead of voters choosing their representatives, politicians choose their voters. Please help me to push back on this greedy power grab by Karl Rove.
Ohio has some of the most egregious gerrymandering in the country. The lines were drawn by Republicans to consolidate Democratic votes. They created winding districts connected only by tiny strips of land and cut in and out of populous counties doing away with compact areas. My district, for example, has been called the snake on the lake.
Ohioans want fair districts. They want their representatives to live in and know their community. I love representing all parts of Ohio's 9th, but agree that districts should be drawn fairly, should be compact, and should keep communities whole.
Ohioans don’t want Republican operatives like Rove pouring money into our elections so they can rig the system for another decade.
Chip in any amount today to help us fight for fair districts and fair representation for all Ohioans.
