With less than two weeks to Election Day, my friend and colleague Senator Tina Smith only has a slim, single-digit lead in the polls over her extreme, right-wing opponent.

This is concerning since Donald Trump and GOP special interest groups have dumped millions into Minnesota to unseat Tina and flip Minnesota red.

Winning Minnesota is critical to Trump’s path to victory since he only lost the state by 1.5 points in 2016.

With the White House and Senate majority at stake, there’s no doubt Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell will be pouring more time and money into Minnesota over the closing weeks of this election. Trump’s campaign has already made 9 stops in Minnesota in the last 7 weeks.

Trump barely lost Minnesota in 2016 and he wasn’t even trying, which means all eyes are on Minnesota this election. Nate Silver’s FiveThirtyEight says that Minnesota might be the state to determine who wins the White House this year, and it’s critical if we want any chance at flipping the Senate.
