BuzzFeed News: Here's how private equity firms targeted Republican Sen. John Cornyn with dark money to preserve surprise medical billing

>>> [link removed]

This is the kind of disgusting Washington dealing that I can't stand, y'all.

When a private equity firm wanted to kill a bill that would have ended surprise medical billing they knew just whose vote to buy -- Senator John Cornyn's. Here's what it boils down to: they steered $89,000 to his reelection campaign to buy his support. He caved, and then they paid for dark money ads to boost him.

This is who we're up against, team -- got my back?

As a result of Cornyn's political games, Texans who go to the emergency room can still get slapped with a surprise, sky-high medical bill for out-of-network expenses they never agreed to. And it's thanks to Sen. Cornyn selling us out to the special interests.

This is what they do, y'all. This is why Washington is broken and needs a huge change.

Senators are supposed to represent the PEOPLE. That's why I haven't taken a penny from corporate PACs and you BET I won't cave to pressure from shady special interests like John Cornyn did.

Help me take on Sen. Cornyn and all his special interest donors and make sure that Texans have a senator who'll fight for all y'all.

It's clear we need a real leader for Texas and a Senate that prioritizes our health care. More than ever, we're relying on online fundraising to keep building the campaign we need to win in November, and we greatly appreciate your continued support >> [link removed]

However, we know this is not an easy time for many. If you'd like to pause receiving fundraising emails for the next few weeks, please let us know here ([link removed]). We'll still keep in touch with important information and to ask your thoughts from time to time.
