Hi John,
I had hoped that this week in Harrisburg I would have the chance to vote on several desperately-needed pieces of legislation, including a bill that would allow counties to start processing and counting ballots before Election Day.

However, in an email yesterday the Pennsylvania House GOP said it has “no plans” to consider changes to the Election Code before November to allow for “pre-canvassing” of ballots

“Pre-canvassing” would allow ballots to be prepared for counting several days earlier, streamlining the counting process and getting us election results sooner ( before Trump can cast doubt on them ). Republican leadership’s refusal to take up this commonsense reform is nothing short of another attempt to sow chaos and undermine confidence in the election. But there is still time to fight back. In another truly sad development, it appears likely that Republican leaders will continue sitting on $1.3 billion in unspent federal pandemic relief , seemingly in retribution against the Governor. Refusing to allocate this money as Pennsylvanians continue to suffer is simply unconscionable.

I’ve said this before but it bears repeating:

It’s time to end the disaster of PA Republican leadership in our state legislature once and for all this November.

Our campaign has been working hard to defend my seat from a Republican challenger and lend help to the most flippable races across PA. Your contribution this week will help us keep doing that through November! [[link removed]] Please chip in whatever you can spare.

Sincerely,
Melissa
