Friend,
We’ve demonstrated over the last few years that when we come together and build power, there’s nothing we can’t do.
We’re going to show it again in the 2020 elections, when so much will be on the line, when everything we stand for will be at stake. And, as always, AFSCME women will light the path and show the way.
I wanted to share with you the stories of some inspiring AFSCME women who are difference makers in their communities as political activists.
Jamie Shumaker organizes AFSCME meet-and-greets with candidates and makes sure they’re there to listen, not just to talk. Ester Lopez makes sure her local officials know exactly what she thinks. Monica Robinson is a voice for the people she serves every day.
These bold women are leading by example, showing their fellow AFSCME members the strength we have when we stand up for our rights.
Read these AFSCME women’s stories and listen to them in their own voices.
In 2020, all of us need to follow their example. We must work to elect candidates from the White House down to local offices who will have our backs and protect our rights. Everything we do for our communities is at stake.
In solidarity,
Elissa McBride
AFSCME Secretary-Treasurer
