This Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Arizona continues to raise awareness and take a stand against all forms of domestic abuse. Domestic violence is an issue that affects all Arizonans, regardless of age, gender or economic status — and help and resources are available ([link removed]) for victims.

Resources
Support is available for victims or survivors of domestic abuse. The National Domestic Violence Hotline provides essential tools and support to help survivors of domestic violence. Individuals who call the Hotline can receive free and confidential support, crisis intervention information, education, and referral services in more than 200 languages. The Hotline can be reached by dialing 1-800-799-7233 and is available 24/7. See more details HERE ([link removed]) .

The Governor’s Office of Youth, Faith and Family publishes facts on domestic violence and sexual assault, provides grants that support domestic violence prevention efforts and more. In addition, Arizona’s Lighting AZ Purple campaign to support victims, connect families and communities with essential resources, and encourage Arizonans to end domestic violence in Arizona. The State Capitol is lit purple all month as part of the campaign, and families and businesses are welcome to join in lighting their homes and buildings purple. Supporting Community Organizations
In response to the pandemic, the Arizona Department of Economic Security (DES) provided more than $500,000 in Emergency Solutions Grants to domestic violence programs statewide. This funding is helping to ensure that Arizona has additional bed space, sanitation, and outreach available for survivors.

In Fiscal Year 2021, DES will invest over $14.3 million to fund services for domestic violence survivors, including emergency shelter, transitional housing, mobile and community-based outreach, and rapid re-housing. With the funding, Arizona is collaborating with 27 community-based organizations across the state.

The DES Division of Aging and Adult Services was recently awarded a $398,000 grant for a three-year training program to increase the state’s effectiveness and care for vulnerable seniors. The grant was awarded by the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Violence Against Women.

Also, the Governor’s Office of Youth, Faith and Family is accepting grant applications for the Arizona STOP Violence Against Women Grant. Approximately $2.5 million will be awarded to programs throughout Arizona to support prosecution, law enforcement, and community-based victim serving organizations that address sexual assault, domestic violence, sex trafficking, stalking, and dating violence.
