Dear John,
Our phone banks have been on fire, and it couldn’t be happening at a better time.
We made nearly 3 million phone calls on the day before Early Voting started, which is probably the most calls made to voters in a single state over the course of one day (checking with the Guinness World Records folks). But we didn't stop there. Since then, we’ve made nearly a million more calls, focusing on competitive Texas House districts and helping voters make a plan to vote.
This work, in addition to the nearly 40 million other calls and texts we’ve made over the past year, has helped produce the largest voter turnout in Texas history.
But with two weeks to go until polls close, there's no time to rest. We’ve got to keep it going if we’re going to have any chance of winning a majority in the Texas House, as well as picking up Congressional seats, flipping the U.S. Senate and helping Joe Biden become the first Democratic nominee to win Texas in 44 years (which, by the way, would end our national nightmare on Election Night).
Pennsylvania will take days, if not weeks, to get to a final count – during which time Donald Trump could try to illegitimately claim victory or otherwise steal the election. Texas will know on November 3rd – I can’t think of any other state with this power to decide the outcome.
That’s why I’m asking you to sign up for a phone bank in this final, two-week stretch before Election Day.
While not the easiest thing to do (calling perfect strangers never is), it’s the essential thing to do. And it’s one of the only ways we have of talking to the voters who will decide the outcomes of these critically important elections.
You can do this. And I’ll be doing it with you, joined by hundreds of other volunteers. After the last polling place closes and we’re waiting on the returns, you’ll want to know that you did everything you could to help Texas come through.
No regrets, no looking back. All in, while we still can.
See you soon,
Beto
