POLITICO: “President Donald Trump took to Twitter [last] Tuesday to urge the California Republican Party to ‘fight on’ in its move to collect ballots in unofficial “drop boxes” around the state.”

According to The New York Times, the state’s GOP has owned up to “placing more than 50 deceptively labeled ‘official’ drop boxes for mail-in ballots” across the state, which are not, in fact, official. State leaders are threatening legal action, calling the practice illegal and warning it could lead to election fraud.

The GOP is resorting to these anti-democratic tactics because they know they’re in trouble. Biden is holding a large lead over Trump in the national polls -- even in some swing states like Georgia, where a new Quinnipiac University survey shows him ahead by 7 points. If Democrats show up and vote en masse, the GOP’s shady attempts at undermining our democracy won’t work.

But Trump isn’t going to quit his voter suppression campaign anytime soon -- each day we get closer to the election, we can expect him to recruit more “poll-watchers” to intimidate voters across the country, spread more lies about the integrity of mail-in voting, and scream louder about the Democrats’ supposed plan to “rig” the election.

The only way to drown out Trump’s cries is to win in a landslide in November. Progressive Majority is dedicated to mobilizing voters nationwide so that we don’t have a repeat of 2016 -- but we’re short of our grassroots fundraising goal. If we don’t raise another $2,410 by MIDNIGHT, we won’t be able to launch the next phase of our voter activation efforts at this critical hour before the election.

We know you’re as disturbed as we are by the GOP’s attempts to sabotage our democracy. And we know it’s important to you to see Trump and Pence kicked out of the White House in November -- you’ve seen their administration lie, cheat, and steal every single day for the past 4 years.
