On November 3rd, 2020, we'll (hopefully) elect a new president. But I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Winning the presidency won't mean a damn thing if Republicans win state legislatures and the power to draw district lines for the next decade.
A Democratic president is going to have a hell of a tough time overhauling our broken health care system without support from the states. They won't be able to make significant changes to the way we educate kids, support vulnerable communities, fight back against climate change -- basically anything that matters. And worse, the newest district lines will almost certainly allow Republicans to keep a stranglehold on Congress until the next census... in 2030.
So when you're watching the debate tonight -- or doing literally anything else -- keep in mind that working to elect Democrats to those state legislative seats is absolutely critical.
