Helping children when and where they need it most

Toddlers are wonderful, adorable and sometimes...incredibly frustrating. The other day, arms full of grocery bags, I asked my three-year-old daughter to please climb the stairs. “No,” she told me, smiling. “I like to sit here!” The daily struggle to get kids to listen and follow directions can be exhausting, especially now when many parents are working from home.

This week on childmind.org ([link removed]) we have tips from our experts on making toddler communication smoother ([link removed]) and more effective. We cover the bases, from how to establish toddler-appropriate discipline ([link removed]) to how to encourage independence ([link removed]). And since mishaps are inevitable (because they’re, you know, toddlers), what NOT to do ([link removed]) when meltdowns happen, and how to give yourself a break when things get tough.
