Friend -

As a nurse and midwife, I know the many risks pregnant people face during and immediately following childbirth. Far too often, these risks aren’t fully understood by the families of the expecting. Maternal mortality and near-death experiences are the key motivators that drive families to search for resources that they can use to lead change in America.

I met Jane, unannounced, at a MarchforMoms advocacy day on Capitol Hill. She explained that she’d lost a daughter and my heart ached for her. She said, “I did not sign up to advocate, I’m not sure what to do but I want to do something.”

With the help of Johnson and Johnson and One Young World Program, we’ve created the MarchforMoms Advocacy Guide to help unexpected advocates like Jane, practitioners, and supporters like you understand not only the growing maternal health crisis in this country - but to provide you with actionable steps you can take to address the causes.

The risks haven’t changed but the way we’re talking about them has to. Whether you’re advocating at your local hospital or calling on your representatives for a stronger safety net and postpartum care, we have put together step-by-step guidance to help you become an effective advocate.

We’re going to keep sharing parts of the guide with you over the next few weeks. If you know an expectant family or would like to start advocating today, start your journey now with our Advocacy Guide. [[link removed]]

From all of us at MarchforMoms, we’re grateful to Johnson and Johnson for their support in building this guide. And if you would like to support our work at MarchforMoms, here’s a link to where you do that. [[link removed]]

Thank you,

Yuliya
