What happened in North Carolina yesterday was incomprehensible, team.

On a day most Americans were mourning and honoring the victims and first responders of 9/11, Republicans in North Carolina took advantage of an unthinkable tragedy to brazenly play games with our democracy.

In a shameless attempt to override Governor Roy Cooper's veto of the state budget because of their refusal to expand Medicaid, Republican legislators chose to call a vote on 9/11 when most Democratic members were not present.

As a veteran who chose to serve after 9/11, I consider the actions of North Carolina Republicans to be disrespectful and unconscionable.

What happened yesterday is yet another example of the fact that our politics is broken and corrupt -- and another reason why we must fight to fix it, together.

The people of North Carolina deserve better than these political games, and we’re going to make sure they get it -- beginning in the U.S. Senate. Add a contribution to support our campaign and finally give North Carolinians leadership they can be proud of:
