The latest NDIS news - without the spin or jargon No images? Click here Hi Supporter, The Minister for the NDIS Stuart Robert and the National Disability Insurance Agency are pushing ahead with plans to introduce compulsory assessments for all new and existing NDIS participants. Many people with disability and their families are really worried about what these new assessments will mean for them. They are worried they will add yet another layer of stress and red tape in an already complicated and confusing system. More hoops for people to jump through to get what they need. And they are concerned that assessors will just use a “tick a box” system that won’t properly capture everyone’s individual needs and circumstances. Thousands of Australians and community groups have already raised their concerns with the Minister. But we still don’t have all the answers we need. Which is why we need your help! Changes will be made to the NDIS legislation will be made next month. So we need everyone to contact their local Federal Member of Parliament. MPs need to understand what impact these changes will have on people with disability and their families – and why everyone is so worried. You can make your voice heard in three ways.
This is the biggest change made to the NDIS since the scheme began. And it is being introduced in a big hurry. We need to make sure the voices of people with disability and their families are heard before this goes any further. Kirsten and the Every Australian Counts team |
