The USDA is still moving on implementing a cruel rule that would increase line speeds at pig slaughter plants, at great expense to animals, workers, and consumers. This misguided rule is so dangerous, in fact, that the Office of the Inspector General is investigating the lack of transparency and possibly faulty data used to push the rule forward.
Take Action: Add your voice today with a quick, polite call to the USDA at 202-720-9113 urging the agency to scrap this reckless plan.
Here’s some sample language for your comment: I’m calling to urge you to put the brakes on cruel, dangerous high-speed pig slaughter. A Compassion Over Killing investigation of high-speed pig slaughter plant Quality Pork Processors documented pigs being shocked, dragged, and improperly stunned, as well as pigs covered in feces or pus-filled abscesses being processed for human consumption–with a USDA inspection seal of approval. Please don’t increase animal suffering–and put workers and consumer safety on the line–under the guise of “modernization” of slaughter. Thank you.
Help Vegan Outreach Tell Cinnabon: Offer a Vegan Option!
We recently teamed up with Vegan Outreach to urge IHOP to offer a vegan pancake. Now, our friends are spreading the love to Cinnabon, too! With over 1,500 locations, a vegan option at Cinnabon would be a pretty huge deal. Check out Vegan Outreach's website to sign the petition and find out other ways to take action today.
Plant-Powered Planet Protectors at the Climate Strike
Since 2017, hundreds of Plant-Powered Planet Protectors (P4) have converged at climate marches from coast to coast with a powerful message: We can choose to protect the planet and our future every time we sit down at the dinner table. Please join us again in solidarity with the youth-led Climate Strike. We'll hold signs and hand out materials about an easy way to take a bite out of climate change, habitat destruction, pollution, and resource shortages--it starts with filling your plate with healthy and delicious vegan meals!
We’ll have coordinated groups in both DC and San Francisco on Sept. 20, but if you live elsewhere, you can join a Climate Strike in your area and then reach out to [email protected] for materials!
As a non-profit organization, Compassion Over Killing relies on donations from caring, generous people like you. Every dollar matters. Your support makes a world of difference to farmed animals.
