Reimagine Wisconsin

Wisconsin faces tremendous challenges as we seek to emerge from the damage caused by the pandemic, the recession, and a long history of racial injustice. Simply rebuilding should not be our aim. We need not only to make our state stronger, but also to transform it into a much more equitable place for all Wisconsinites.

To remake Wisconsin, all of us need to be actively involved in imagining a new future for our state and our communities – a future where every Wisconsinite is valued and has full access to opportunity. To do our part in that effort, the Wisconsin Budget Project has begun a new initiative, Reimagine Wisconsin.

We recently launched reimaginewisconsin.org, which lays out policy measures that would enable all state residents to thrive. It outlines several broad principles for a new economy and provides more concrete recommendations for policy changes during the next legislative session.

The Budget Project plans to continue to add issue briefs to the new website, and we would welcome your assistance in developing policy recommendations for next session. Please share with us your ideas and recommendations about constructing a new economy that values every Wisconsinite and dismantles the systemic oppression that has harmed African Americans and other people of color for generations.
