Friend —
Earlier this year, our Democratic Senators led the charge on getting Senate Bill 5395 signed into law. This new law ensures that we provide comprehensive sexual health education to students in public schools all across Washington.
But whether or not that law takes effect is up to you, friend.
Referendum 90 (also called R90) is on the ballot, and how you vote will decide if our state approves or rejects the law. If voters APPROVE R90, the law will take effect — ensuring that comprehensive, medically-accurate, age-appropriate sex education is taught in all Washington public schools.
Will you pledge to APPROVE R90 and ensure Washington’s young people grow up safe and healthy?
Comprehensive sex education has improved young people’s current and future health and safety over and over again in other states where this law is already in effect. The law will prevent abuse by giving kids the tools and language they need to get help. It will educate young people about consent, and give them the facts about sex, pregnancy, and STIs.
Our Senate Democrats ensured this bill made it to the Governor’s desk and was signed into law — and now that ballots are out across the state, it’s up to all of us to carry it over the finish line.
Thank you for pledging to APPROVE R90,
All of us at WSDC
