Criminalization to Healing:

Part 1: The Movement To Decriminalize Education

Part 2: Reimagining Safety in Schools

Join CLASP in our next series of virtual conversations focused on healing-centered liberation policy. This two-part discussion will highlight movements to decriminalize the education system and reimagine safety in schools.

The decriminalize education and police-free school movement did not start this year. This movement has existed for decades. For our young people to feel safe, thrive, and succeed in education, we must remove police from schools and provide more holistic supports. This includes restorative practices, mental health supports, wraparound services, and eliminating punitive and carceral discipline practices.

The first conversation/webinar, on October 29th at 3 PM ET, will feature organizations and leaders at the forefront of the fight demanding police-free schools. We’ll learn about their journey to decriminalize the education systems locally and nationally.

The second conversation/webinar, on November 12th at 3PM ET, will include educators and advocates who are reimagining safety in schools through holistic approaches, including mental health supports, restorative practices, wellness, and the community school model.
