I have great news -- I’m proud to tell you that I’ve been endorsed by the Newtown Action Alliance, a grassroots organization formed in the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting in 2012.
The shooting at Sandy Hook in Newtown was a wake-up call, but here’s the thing -- there have been more than 2,500 more mass shootings in the U.S. since then.
Something has to change.
That’s why I helped advance a bipartisan measure through the House that would secure universal background checks on all gun sales and help prevent future gun violence and more tragedies like Sandy Hook.
Unfortunately, it’s been more than a year since the House passed that measure, and Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s Senate still hasn’t taken it up.
I’m committed to fighting for common sense gun-safety legislation for as long as it takes to keep our communities safe, but there’s a problem -- Washington Republicans want to unseat me and put a stop to our efforts in Congress to prevent gun violence. If you can, will you chip in to help us fight back so we can continue our fight long after 2020?
