Friend – I wish I had a nickel for every time I heard the phrase, "Elections have consequences."

We all know that elections have consequences. That's why Senate Republicans are rushing Amy Coney Barrett's Supreme Court nomination through before the American people can make their voices heard on Election Day – because they know those voices will speak out against Judge Barrett's confirmation.

In a moment as consequential for the future of our country as this one, I want to make sure your voice is heard – especially in the face of all those who want to silence it. So please, will you take just a moment now to share your thoughts and concerns about Amy Coney Barrett's nomination to the Supreme Court?

Let's be clear: Senate Republicans are moving ahead with this nomination only because they can. But might does not make right.

History will haunt this raw exercise of political power – one that threatens to strike down protections for people living with preexisting conditions, block lifesaving gun violence prevention laws, undermine a woman's most fundamental right to make decisions about her own body, and stall urgently-needed action on climate change.

And the fact of the matter is that we don't yet know the extent to which Judge Barrett's extreme views threaten each of these critical issues. There are additional statements and speeches by her, and information about her, coming out every day. The Senate has an obligation to scrutinize this nominee for a lifetime appointment to the highest court in the land. My Republican colleagues have turned their backs on that obligation entirely.

That's why I'm opposing Judge Barrett's confirmation at every turn. My motion to stop this sham process from moving out of committee was blocked along party lines, but I refuse to let up. As I continue to speak out in the Senate, it couldn't be more important for me to hear from you directly about where you stand.

Please, take just one moment now to let me know what you think about the future of the Supreme Court and what concerns you most about Judge Barrett's nomination.

Remember the words of Justice Ginsberg: "Dissents speak to a future age." As we dissent in protest against this mockery of a process, remember that we are fighting not only for today, but for tomorrow.

Thank you for standing with me.

Dick
