Dear John:
We are human beings. Full of joy, emotions, spirit, creativity, with much to offer the world and our communities.
But that is not what Donald Trump sees in us. After seven months of mishandling this pandemic, the Trump administration is desperately attempting to force through COVID-19 vaccines and treatments so Trump can claim he accomplished something in the pandemic, even if it means turning us all into medical experiments.
Join us as we show the Trump administration how human and full of life we are, to demand a tested, proven, safe and effective vaccine.
Donald Trump bullies and undermines respected scientists. Meanwhile, the coronavirus continues to ravage communities of color at disproportionate rates, and racist policies continue to perpetuate the pandemic, and threaten to repeat historic crimes of using Black people as involuntary medical test subjects. This disregard for communities of color puts everyone at risk.
We need a vaccine that works, and is provided free to everyone. And it’s clear that we’re not going to get it unless we unite to demand it.
Join us this Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 12:30 p.m. at the Department of Health and Human Services for Mourn, March and Movement: A People’s Vaccine Rally.
This action will be a socially distanced, safe, and peaceful rally and procession with public health officials, health workers, and families of loved-ones lost to COVID-19. People’s Action will be joining our allies at SPACES in Action, Public Citizen, Long Live GoGo, R2H Action [Right to Health], Free the Vaccine for COVID-19, Treatment Action Group, Center for Popular Democracy Action, Universities Allied for Essential Medicines, Torah Trumps Hate, Health GAP, and others to demand a free, safe, and effective vaccine.
We hope you’ll join us in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday as we unite to chart a course out of this pandemic.
In solidarity,
Connie Huynh
