I’m writing today to tell you about an especially exciting slate of progressive candidates whose bids for office are driven by the urgency to find real solutions to decriminalize communities of color and STOP America’s other pandemic: police killings.
PFAW Member,
PFAW’s Next Up Victory Fund is once again supporting hundreds of amazing young, diverse progressives running for office at the state and local level nationwide … to build a deep bench of winning progressive officeholders and real progressive power from the ground up.
I’m writing today to tell you about an especially exciting slate of more than 100 of our candidates whose bids for office are driven, at least in part, by the urgency to find real solutions to decriminalize communities of color and STOP America’s other pandemic: police killings.
Some of our endorsed candidates are in particularly competitive races and your assistance could make all the difference.
We’re asking that you support these 8 candidates for state and local office, who are all running in extremely tight races that we’ve identified as particularly high impact in the movement to stop police killings:
Whitney Walker, candidate for Maricopa County, Arizona Board of Supervisors District 3
-
Jevin Hodge, candidate for Maricopa County, Arizona Board of Supervisors District 1
-
David Ortiz, candidate for Colorado State House District 38
-
Franccesca Cesti-Browne, candidate for Florida State House District 115
-
Nakita Hemingway, candidate for Georgia State House District 104
-
Brittney Rodas, candidate for Pennsylvania State House District 105
-
Brian Rowland, candidate for Mayor of Prairie View, Texas
-
Tamara Shewmake, candidate for Portsmouth, Virginia City Council
All 8 of these candidates need help urgently. While we’re asking that you chip in any amount you can to help them on ActBlue right now, we also ask that you consider a contribution of $5.75 per candidate, for a total of $46.
8 candidates. $46 dollars.
For the 8 minutes and 46 seconds that former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin pressed his knee into the neck of George Floyd when he murdered him on May 25, 2020.
Please chip in $5.75, or any amount you can, to each of these incredible progressive candidates on the front lines of the movement to protect Black lives and stop police killings>>
Millions of Americans have taken to the streets to protest the tragic killings of Black Americans like George Floyd and Breonna Taylor, and demand justice. Our voices matter and peaceful protest matters. But so do elections.
Justice will only come from real change, and real change will only come when we have elected leaders who are brave enough and committed enough to prioritize that change.
These races are all vitally important in achieving the goals that so many of us have marched for… for realizing the value and sanctity of Black and Brown lives, and making our country live up to that core American value of equal justice.
Please give $5.75 each, or any amount you can, to these 8 candidates on ActBlue now>>
Thanks for everything you’re doing in our shared fight for justice, equality, and the American Way.
-- Ben Jealous, President

Radical Right extremists are trying to turn back the clock on a century of advances in civil rights, women’s rights, workers’ rights, the social safety net and more… With Donald Trump in the White House, they’re waging an all-out assault on the fundamental pillars of our country – democracy, checks and balances, a fair and independent judicial branch, and core values like fairness, equality, and justice for all.
PFAW is fighting back every day with:
✔ Grassroots organizing
✔ Lobbying and advocacy
✔ Research and education
✔ Voter mobilization
✔ And more…
But we can’t do this vital work without the robust grassroots financial support of our members and activists.
Please help fund the fight for progress and stand against right-wing extremism with an urgently needed donation to PFAW today>>
