Dear Friend,
Your Vote Is Essential.
America faces crises on three
critical fronts: a public health pandemic, an economic free fall and
long-standing structural racism. Without the passage of the HEROES Act, too
many of America's working families are suffering needlessly. Professional musicians
and other creative artists continue to experience extreme, sustained financial
losses.
Our issues are not only arts
related; many involve the AFM’s effort to organize the workplace, while
protecting your rights on the job. Our relationships with AFL-CIO unions often
has us working together with members of Congress on tax reform, arts funding,
performance rights, and on a broad range of other issues such as relief for our
pension fund, and healthcare.
From experience, we know who has
stood firm with us “on both sides of the aisle.” We understand how important it
is to help keep our legislative champions seated in our nation’s capital. This
is why your vote counts.
As musicians and working people,
we should have good, safe jobs, economic security, retirement protection, terrestrial
radio performance rights and affordable healthcare. We need to vote for
candidates who share our values and vote out those who don’t. Without proper
representation, our legislative agendas could be wiped out in an instant.
As we rise to meet the challenges
currently faced by our nation and our unions, voting — whether by mail, early
or in person on Election Day — will be critical to ensuring our voices are heard.
Make your voice heard in this election.
Together, we can build a nation that works for working people.
In Unity,
Ray Hair
AFM International President
