Dear John,
Dontae Sharpe voted for the first time this week after spending over 25 years in a North Carolina prison for a murder he did not commit. Sara, a fast food worker with the Fight for $15 who was almost evicted recently will be voting for the first time this election as well. "I'm not gonna allow you to suppress me and tell me my voice doesn't matter," she says.
With every story of people taking back power, we also hear the other stories – lines spanning hours long, understaffed poll sites, voter intimidation, disinformation about absentee ballots. In the face of the newest chapters of voter suppression, the stories of Dontae and Sara give us great hope, not optimism blind to the challenges before us.
We've got two weeks to go until Election Day. A people of hope get to work in times like these. We can't take anything for granted – so make a plan, join us on Moral Monday for a massive call-in to the Senate, sign up for phone and text banking and the More Faithful Month, drive a neighbor to the polls - it's time to do M.O.R.E!
