U.S.-Mexico Border Wall: 360 Miles and Counting <[link removed]>
U.S. Customs and Border Protection has made substantial headway on construction of the border wall—at a pace of nearly two miles a day. By the end of 2020, the Trump administration expects to meet and exceed its goal of 450 miles. And despite what critics say, this is an entirely new wall system, replacing either dilapidated or ineffective wall or wall where nothing existed before. The wall is as high as 30 feet, complete with anti-climb features. The wall works. But you don’t have to take our word for it. Hear from the experts who are speaking at Heritage on Tuesday at 1 p.m. Register for the webinar <[link removed]> and watch our new video on the border wall <[link removed]>.
Defense Secretary Mark Esper Discusses State of US Military <[link removed]>
Defense Secretary Mark Esper, a former
Heritage Foundation chief of staff, returned to Heritage last week for a speech about our military’s readiness to meet the threats of the modern world. While our armed services have taken strides to recover from decades of neglect, much still remains to be done to ensure that we are able to defeat our competitors. “Today our strategic competitors, China and Russia, are attempting to erode our hard-earned gains as they undermine international rules and norms and use coercion against other nations for their own benefit,” Esper says. China’s Expansionist Regime Threatens the Free World <[link removed]>
“For too long, the free world ignored, sometimes even enabled, the
Chinese Communist Party’s destabilizing behavior. That must end.” That is the blunt assessment by Heritage Vice President James Carafano of what he calls China’s “new age of imperialism.” Carafano, who heads the Kathryn and Shelby Cullom Davis Institute for National Security and Foreign Policy, explains the CCP’s destructive impact on the environment, human rights, economics, diplomacy, and more. Uncovered.” <[link removed]>
