Members of the House are expected to remain in their home districts this week as the Senate prepares for a vote on Judge Amy Coney Barrett's nomination to the Supreme Court. Following a week of hearings, the Senate Judiciary Committee formally set a panel vote for this Thursday, which would set up a full Senate vote next week.
NAFCU again urges national data security standard after recent breaches [ [link removed] ]
There were several reports last week of data breaches: Fintech company Robinhood announced that almost 2,000 market accounts were compromised, Dickey's Barbecue had information of more than 3 million cards stolen, and Barnes & Noble suffered a breach that exposed some personal information of customers. As a leader in calling for national data security standards, NAFCU sent a letter to Congress urging action to ensure consumers' information is properly protected in light of these breaches.
NAFCU updates PPP FAQs to reflect latest SBA guidance, new simplified forgiveness application [ [link removed] ]
Following the Small Business Administration’s (SBA) release of a simplified forgiveness application for paycheck protection program (PPP) loans under $50,000 and subsequent clarifying updates, NAFCU has updated its PPP FAQs to include new questions that reflect the new application form.
Retail sales recovery depends on relief negotiations, says NAFCU [ [link removed] ]
Retail sales rose 1.9 percent in September, following an unrevised 0.6 percent rise in August and a 1.1 percent increase in July. NAFCU's Curt Long stated that this rise comes as a surprise, and reflects 5.4 percent growth when compared to last year.
