Last week, North Carolina state Senator Bob Steinburg argued on social media that Republicans must control redistricting so they can ensure the election of "Republican congressmen [...] to help what we hope will be President Trump."

It's pitiful when elected officials openly hold the position, "We're not popular enough to win elections fairly, so we have to rig the maps to stay in power." But that's been the Republican platform since 2010, when they rode a wave of dark money to take control of state legislatures and put in place a decade of manipulated maps.

Now, the GOP is laser-focused on repeating that strategy. Democrats need to gain just five seats to flip this chamber -- and the NDRC has invested to help them do it. Will you chip in today so we can help defeat pro-gerrymandering Republicans and win in battleground states across the country?

Friend, Republicans know power is slipping away from them. They know Americans don't support their radical positions on issues like health care, the economy, and climate change. They know their politics of division is alienating voters across the country. And now, they're scared of losing in states like Texas, Kansas, Georgia, and North Carolina.

But they're not going to go down without a fight. Right now, Republicans are spending through the nose in down-ballot races, hoping they can hold onto enough state legislatures to maintain control of redistricting in 2021.

If the GOP succeeds, they'll draw maps that keep them in power for another 10 years, no matter how unpopular they become. We can't let that happen -- will you rush a contribution now to help us stop them?

A.G. Holder: If the NDRC is successful in undoing manipulated maps, we will be able to achieve a system in which everyone's vote counts

Since 2017, the NDRC has executed a comprehensive redistricting strategy that shifts the redistricting power, creating fair districts where Democrats can compete. Our victories have been made possible by our strong community of grassroots supporters. But 2020 will be our most important -- and toughest -- year yet. It's the last year before redistricting, which means it's our last chance to elect the Democrats we trust to fight for fair maps.
