Subject 58% of voters think nuclear power plants can be safely developed

SEPTEMBER 12, 2019: Fifty-eight percent (58%) of voters nationwide think it’s likely that nuclear power plants could be developed to operate in a safe and environmentally friendly manner. A ScottRasmussen.com national survey ([link removed]) found that 43% disagree and consider it unlikely.[1] ([link removed])

Seventy-two percent (72%) of Republicans think it’s likely that nuclear power plants can be safely developed. That view is shared by 54% of Democrats and 48% of independent voters.

However, just 28% of all voters are ready for the United States to build more nuclear power plants. Support for nuclear power does go up a bit when people are reminded that it would reduce our reliance on fossil fuels.
