Immigration Action Group Asking for Your Assistance
Temporary Protected Status Families Facing Deportation
CALL TO ACTION

We need your help to prevent 400,000 families with Temporary Protected Status (TPS) from being torn apart by deportation as early as January 2021.

Contact your Senators and Senatorial candidates to urge them to pass the Dream and Promise Act to grant TPS holders permanent residency (passed the House in June 2019).
TPS holders living legally in this country for decades are from Haiti, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Sudan, South Sudan, Yemen, Syria, Somalia and Nepal. They came here due to war or natural disasters.

They have a high employment rate and many work in health care, food service, construction, and childcare.

They pay taxes and tens of thousands are home owners. They are not eligible for any public assistance, but are given temporary work authorization.

Why is action needed now?
1. TPS holders in nearly a half a million families will lose their lawful status and their 270,00 U.S. citizen children will have to choose between staying in the U.S. or being deported with their family.

2. TPS holders from Sudan, Nicaragua and Haiti have 120 days to leave the country (by March 5, 2021) and those from El Salvador have 365 days (November 2021).

3. A panel of judges on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled on September 14, 2020 to overturn a lower court decision against the Administration's attempt to end the TPS program.

4. Although the decision may be appealed, there's no guarantee that the TPS program will be saved.

5. If the Dream and Promise Act is not passed and signed into law in this Congressional session, a new bill will have to be introduced in the House and Senate after the new Congress starts in 2021.

Please pass this Call to Action on to others willing to help!
