“We have a moral obligation to do something. We are the party that stands for the working poor,” Ro said, stressing the importance of getting COVID-19 relief to the people.
There are over 50,000 new COVID-19 cases and hundreds of deaths per day, job growth is slowing down, and 23 million Americans didn't have enough to eat last week. Yet, Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell are prioritizing a Supreme Court nomination to carry out their own agenda instead of focusing on people struggling from the effects of this pandemic.
Ro is working every day to stand up for our values and needs by fighting in the House to get a relief deal passed and make sure people receive the most amount of aid possible. Families can’t keep waiting for Trump and McConnell to get them the help they need — but Ro is determined to advance a deal.
This is the kind of leadership we need in Congress, putting the people first and foremost, above politics and partisanship — and it’s why we need Ro back in Congress in just 16 days. Can you make a contribution right now to help keep Ro and his fight for the people in the House?
While Republicans have continued to ignore the COVID-19 crisis, House Democrats have passed two relief checks, enhanced unemployment, rental assistance, help for small businesses & funding for schools. Ro supported these bills along with his own, The Emergency Money for the People Act. Introduced with co-sponsor Rep. Tim Ryan, the bill would have given $2,000 on a monthly basis to every American over the age of 16, giving people ongoing financial support through the pandemic.
But, McConnell has blocked these bills for months while Trump has continually downplayed the severity of the pandemic. Now they’re putting their time and energy into rushing to confirm Barrett even though voting has already begun. It’s this type of out of touch leadership that we need to replace with progressive, people-first representation.
Ro is that progressive, people-first representative that we need to have in Congress fighting for us. Can you make a contribution right now so we have the resources we need to win Ro’s reelection?
In solidarity,
Team Ro
