Dear Friend,

When Buzz arrived at the PETA-supported clinic in Petra, Jordan, he was in
tremendous pain. His body was covered with wounds—including a hideously large
burn on his shoulder where someone had shocked him with a stun gun .

Buzz and many other animals in Petra suffer because of extreme violence such as
this—and today, they need your help.

Buzz must have been electroshocked over and over again . His muscles were damaged so severely that he was unable to stand, and his
breathing and heartbeat were both dangerously erratic. He had been deprived of
nutritious food for so long that he ate plastic to ease his hunger, but it
wreaked havoc on his digestive system.

The staff at the Petra clinic immediately began treating this long-suffering
donkey with painkillers and antibiotics. They administered IV fluids, repaired
his prolapsed rectum, and cleaned and bandaged his wounds.

Buzz was rescued, but other animals are still suffering mightily in Petra. Many
hundreds of donkeys, horses, and camels there are forced to work through hunger,
exhaustion, and injuries. Many will die slowly and painfully without urgent
medical care provided by the PETA-supported free clinic— the only facility of its kind in this vast region of barren rocks .

Please, keep this vital work going by making a generous gift to the Global
Compassion Fund today.

PETA and our compassionate supporters are the only ray of hope for these
malnourished, grievously injured, and deathly ill donkeys, horses, and camels.
With your support, the clinic will be able to take on many more patients like
Buzz and the tiny donkey foal staff members discovered whose legs had been bound
together with wire.

Since late last year, the clinic has treated more than 1,000 donkeys, dozens of
horses, and even camels and dogs. These animals count on the PETA-supported
clinic to alleviate their pain and suffering—and today, the clinic is counting
on you.

Make your donation of $2 or more to the Global Compassion Fund now so animals in Petra won't
have to wait another moment for the help they need.

On behalf of Buzz and all the other donkeys, horses, and additional animals who
depend on the clinic in Petra, thank you for your compassion and support.

Kind regards,

Ingrid E. Newkirk
