Dear John, |
I write to you today about a significant and pressing issue: the right to vote. |
In June, the Georgia primary election was marred by serious voter suppression, as were other primaries across the nation. Voters waited in line for hours, voting machines malfunctioned, mail-in ballots did not arrive, and the threat of COVID-19 forced many to risk their health in order to vote. |
The problem drew national attention. Take a look at this article from CNN: |
|
John, the right to vote is a fundamental element of American democracy. |
When vulnerable citizens – particularly communities of color, seniors, and people dealing with health challenges – lose their ability to be heard at the ballot box, they lose that fundamental American right. |
But the only way that we can make change is by raising our voices loudly and as one. Will you sign on to demand immediate voter protections before November 3rd? |
Working hard for you, |
