With just 16 days left until the election, Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith is finally coming out of hiding, ramping up her campaign for re-election, and attacking Mike.

One thing is clear: Senator Hyde-Smith knows how powerful our campaign has grown, and now she’s running scared. Here’s what we know, just from this past week:

• Cindy Hyde-Smith is still refusing to debate Mike. According to her, the only people who care about debates are “losing candidates and reporters.” I mean, really?! Public debates are an important part of our democracy (and nearly every other incumbent Republican in the Senate has agreed to debate their opponent). It makes you wonder what Hiding Hyde-Smith is hiding from.
   
• Cindy Hyde-Smith’s Quarter 3 fundraising numbers are dismal. We expected Mitch McConnell’s fundraising machine to bail the Senator out before the FEC deadline like usual. But we didn’t expect that Team Espy would outraise her by more than five times!
   
• Cindy Hyde-Smith launched her first attack ad against Mike. It hit the airwaves across Mississippi, and naturally, it distorts Mike’s record and her own. I’ve spent years in this business, and let me tell you: There is no better indication that an opponent feels threatened than a trashy attack ad.

This may be Hyde-Smith’s first attack against us, but it certainly won’t be the last, now that she’s out of hiding and running scared. She knows that Mike Espy has a real shot at winning this Senate seat — and it terrifies her.

That’s why I’m doing our research and using everything we know about our opponent and her campaign to fight back, set the record straight, and get Mike elected.
